I wanted to do a blog on why women wear makeup. There's so many different reasons why we do what we do.
There are those who use makeup as a security blanket to cover up what they see and have been told are flaws such as: acne scars, rosacea, hyperpigmention marks, dark under eye circles, wrinkles etc. Then there are those whose main reason for wearing makeup is to improve their appearance.
Most of us wear it to help us look our best. I like the way properly applied makeup looks on the skin. Foundation should always look like skin not caked on to where it looks like you can scrap it off with a butter knife. ( I can't reiterate this enough). Do you like the way your makeup looks? Are you doing this because of you or someone else? Don't waste time applying makeup to impress people. Do it for you. How does wearing it make you feel? Where are you going? What kind of event it is? Is this going to be beauty makeup or avant-garde? I think these are important questions to ask yourself to get to the root of why you wear makeup.
Some people will try to argue that makeup is a means to disguise your true self and tell you that "putting on all that stuff on your face" means you are hiding your natural beauty. Not true. There're a lot of things that aren't natural about people. We naturally don’t smell like the designer or celebrity perfume/cologne we spray on ourselves but we put it on anyway. Someone could argue you're not smelling like your normal self and are disguising your natural body scent. You just want to smell good. It’s the same with makeup; you may want a little pop to the visual.
You might want to totally change your appearance. There's nothing wrong with that but this process is tricky. If you're not experienced with how to accomplish this seek out a professional makeup artist to help you. The finished result may make you feel more beautiful and self assured. You stand a little straighter and walk a little taller. You face the day feeling good about yourself all because of a sweet beat. Do you, and feel good. People talking about " all that stuff on your face" pay them no mind. This look may give you the self confidence to achieve your goals. Sometimes, in order to get things done you just need to feel good about yourself first, and that is okay.
We do all sorts of things to ourselves to look and feel better from whiting our teeth, getting tattoos, changing hair color waxing, shaving etc. People want to take pride in their appearance, there is no shame in that. Put your best foot forward and always remain confident. Remember there's always something exciting about
Improving on whats already beautiful.
My name is Shelby and I am a free lance make-up artist. I've always been infatuated with make-up. I like what it can do and how it makes a person feel. Make-up can transform a person's appearance and confidence.
